For the sixth year, Cape Girardeau Honda will hold their annual Drive it Forward Campaign. Throughout the month of June, for every vehicle sold, new and used, Cape Girardeau Honda will donate $50 to one of four local charities chosen. Drive it Forward gives customers the opportunity to choose which charity they’d like their donation to go towards.
Cape Area Habitat seeks to build lives as well as houses. They offer their homeowners a 25-year, zero interest mortgage. Through the houses they build, hope is restored and lives are changed as the cycle of need is broken. How they build is just as important as what they build. By their Partner Families investing themselves in the building process, they gain self-reliance, self-esteems and new skills. By investing time, money, materials, and their expertise, Habitat volunteers, donors, organizations, businesses and professional trades gain new relationships, which extend far beyond the immediate impact. Habitat brings together people from all walks of life, with varied skills and economic backgrounds to achieve a common goal of service to others.
The Safe House of Southeast is a non-profit agency that provides comprehensive services to women and their children who have experienced domestic violence. In addition to secure shelter, the Safe House provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, court advocacy, counseling services and case management as well as a prevention program and thrift store.
Adult & Teen Challenge Mid America is part of a worldwide network of ministries which include about 200 centers around the world. They minister men, ages 16 and above, and from all walks of life, because addiction knows no age boundaries, education or social class. They typically have around 150 students who are with them for 10 months at a time. Their impact often reaches well beyond the student in the program. Many families are reconciled and relationships healed and restored. TCIMA directly benefits society as these transformed addicts turn their lives around. They become productive citizens who often minister to those who face the problems they once had.
Foster Adopt Connect is a family foster care group home. Needy children in our community go without proper food, shelter and essential medical care every day due to a variety of factors. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, children are the most at risk, especially those in our foster care system. By meeting essential daily needs and providing them with needed medical and psychological services, they offer foster children HOPE to a brighter future as they assist them during the crisis they are in. In addition to taking care of the children that live in their home, they also serve to support all foster children and by supporting and recruiting foster parents in our area.
